ウワサの１０月１０日の招待状は発送されなかったが、どうやら日付は確定したようだ・・・

１０月２３日開催

新しい小型 iPad の発表イベントが今月行なわれることについては、AllThingsD が８月に報じたところだ。アップルの計画に詳しい筋（複数）によれば、いわゆる「iPad mini」イベントは１０月２３日に、招待者限定のイベントとして行なわれるという。

As AllThingsD reported in August, Apple will hold a special event this month, at which it will showcase a new, smaller iPad. People familiar with Apple’s plans tell us that the company will unveil the so-called “iPad mini” on Oct. 23 at an invitation-only event.

場所は Town Hall 講堂か

イベントの開催場所については、情報筋は明らかにしておらず、いまのところ確認できていない。

Sources declined to specify where the event is to be held, and I’ve not been able to confirm a location.

しかしアップル本社の Town Hall Auditorium になりそうだ。ここでは過去にも数々の重要製品 — OS X Lion、次世代 MacBook Air、iPhone 4S — が発表された先例があるからだ。

But it’s likely to be at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium. The company has debuted a number of important products there in the past — OS X Lion, a next-generation MacBook Air and the iPhone 4S — so there’s plenty of precedent.

どうせなら・・・

どうやらアップルの小型 iPad が発表されるのは１０月２３日になりそうだ。どうせなら１３インチ Retina MacBook Pro も併せて発表してくれるとクールなんだが。（情報を持ってる［？］わけではないが、どうせなら早く出して欲しいと思うので・・・）

Looks like that’s when Apple is going to unveil the smaller iPad. Would be cool if they had a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, too. (I’ve got no dirt on that — just something I’m hoping to see sooner rather than later.)

iPhone 5 と「iPad Air」の発表イベントは別々になるという Gruber の予想は的中したわけだが、つぎは発表内容がどうなるか興味津々だ。

教育をテーマにしたイベント、Wi-Fi オンリーモデルだけではない、エントリー価格は 199 ドル、Retina MacBook Pro や iMac の一新もありかも、という彼の予想はどうなるだろうか？

１０月２３日へ向けて期待が高まる・・・
