おしゃれで、目立って、ステキ

Instagram みたいな新しいソーシャルネットワーク・推薦エンジンが登場した。しかもインターフェイスはたったひとつ。iPhone のネイティブアプリだ。前提はとてもシンプルだが意欲的。いいと思い、推薦したいものに「スタンプ」を押す。スタンプもいろいろあるわけでじゃない。５段階評価みたいなことはやらない。スタンプを押すだけだ。じゃあ、何にスタンプを押すか？ 何でもいい。レストラン、場所、本、映画、音楽などなど。

New social network/recommendation engine, which, like Instagram, is debuting with but a single interface: a native iPhone app. The premise is simple and ambitious: you “stamp” things that you enjoy and recommend. There aren’t different types of stamps. There’s no rating from 0-5 or anything like that. Just stamped. What kind of things can you stamp? All sorts of things: restaurants, places, books, movies, music.

おしゃれで、目立って、インターフェイスもちゃんとしたブランド印だ。

Stylish, distinctive, nice-branded UI, too.

５つ星評価はキライ

５つ星の５段階評価がキライなことはなんども書いた。恣意的すぎてハッキリしないからだ。２つ星ならどうか？ ４つ星ならどうか？ 好きなら５つ星だろう。キライなら１つ星。どうでもいいなら３つ星だ。段階評価の意味が分かるという点では Oink が使っている「とても好き/好き/別に～/キライ」の方がよっぽどいい。でももっと簡単に評価できるとしたらどうか？ サムズアップ・サムズダウンよりもっと簡単だとしたら・・・

I’ve written a number of times about my hatred of the 1-to-5 star rating system. It’s too arbitrary. What constitutes a 2-star rating? What about a 4-star rating? If you like something, it’s 5-stars. If you hate it, it’s 1-star. And maybe if it’s okay, it’s 3-stars. The love/like/meh/dislike that something like Oink uses is much better because at least it gives meaning to the ratings. But what if ratings could be even easier? Easier than even thumbs up/thumbs down?

シンプルさもデザインも気に入った

それが「Stamped」だ。アプリはたったひとつのことしか出来ない。もし何かが気に入ったら（同意したという意味で）スタンプを押す。もし気に入らなかったら無視するだけ。段階評価なんかしてはいけないのだ。これ以上簡単なことはないだろう。

That’s Stamped. There is only one way to vote with the app: if you like something, give it a stamp (your stamp of approval, as it were). If you don’t like something, ignore it. Don’t rate it. It couldn’t be easier.

Stamped については９月に TechCrunch に書いたのが最初だった。アプリをテストして以来いまでも使い続けている。アプリのシンプルさもデザインも気に入っている。ついに今日発売されたが、ますますその有用さは約束されるだろう。すべてのアプリがそうだが、カギはデータなのだ。

I first wrote about Stamped for TechCrunch in September. I’ve been testing the app since then and have kept using it. I love both the simplicity and the design of the app. Today it finally launched to the public and that promises to make it even more useful. The key, as with all these apps, is data.

今日の発表については TechCrunch に詳しい記事がある。Stamped のブログにも載っている。これは投資家としてではなく、ひとりのファンとして書いている。

TechCrunch has more about today’s launch, as do the Stamped guys on their own blog. This is one of those services I’m not an investor in, just a fan of.
