アップル恒例の秋のイベントのニュースがまったくない。John Gruber や Jim Dalrymple の小ちゃな小鳥ちゃんも何も囁いてくれない。
そんなところへ NY タイムズの記事だ。

内容は iPhone 5 のウワサの総まくりなのだが、注目は「数週間のうちに」というところ。アップル従業員からの情報ということで、ウワサの中身とは関係なく冒頭に置かれた。
ほかならぬ NY タイムズまで取り上げたことになる。
９月中の発表だとすると、いよいよイベントも秒読みの段階に入ったということか・・・

「数週間のうちに」（just weeks away）となっても、依然として相矛盾するウワサ・・・

語呂合わせからいっても１０月５日だ
我々の内部情報によれば、新しいハードウェアを発表するプレス会合が１０月５日に行なわれる。実際の店頭発売は１週間後になるという。
Our inside source says there will be a press conference announcing the new hardware on October 5th, with retail release occurring a week later.
１０月５日は iPhone 5 や iOS 5 ともうまく符合する。
The symbolism works well too: iPhone 5, iOS 5, October 5.

９月最終週のハズだ
見出しが文法的におそまつなこと（プレス会合が５日に行なわれるのか、それとも招待状が５日に出されるのか）を別にしても、このウワサはほぼ間違いだと思う。９月の最終週に発表が行なわれるだろうという我々の考え方は変わらない。それに、このウワサは「ゲーマー」サイトのものだ。正確なアップル情報を求める場所ではない。
Leaving aside the poor grammar of the headline (is Apple calling the press conference to occur on the 5th or will the invites go out on the 5th?), we believe this rumor is mostly wrong. We stand by the launch date being the last week in September. Besides, this is a rumor from a *gamer* web site – not exactly the first place you turn to for accurate Apple rumors.
