プロセッサは iPad/4G iPod Touch と同じ（Step 11）

A4 プロセッサのマーキングが K4X2G643GE である点は特に興味深い。これは iPad や第４世代 iPod Touch のマーキングとまったく同じだ。ただし iPhone 4 のプロセッサのものとは異なる。


The key marking of interest on the A4 processor package is K4X2G643GE. This is identical to the marking found on the iPad and 4th Generation iPod Touch, but different from the iPhone 4 processor.


Apple TV の RAM も、iPad および 4G iPod Touch と同じ 256 MB だ。アップルが RAM を増やすとは思っていなかったが、減らさなかったことでアプリデベロッパも少しはほっとするだろう。


The Apple TV has 256 MB RAM, the same as the iPad and 4th Gen iPod Touch. We weren’t expecting Apple to bump up the RAM, but it’s a bit of a relief for app developers that the amount hasn’t been reduced.

解説者が気づいた興味深い点：ロジックボード横のはんだパッド（はんだランド）がドックコネクタとピッタリの形状に見えることだ！


Here’s something interesting that one of the commenters pointed out: the solder pads near the side of the logic board look to be a *perfect* match for a dock connector!


どうやらこの Apple TV はあとくつかコネクタを付け加えれば完璧なコンピュータになるように思える。このロジックボードは将来の iPadでも使われるのかもしれない・・・


This Apple TV seems to be a couple of connectors shy of a full-on computer. Perhaps this logic board will be used in future iPads?

「Apple TV の内部は iPod Touch にソックリ？」という Jeffrey Brown［TechInsight］の予想は当たったようだ。

iFixit の分解の基づいた新しい記事や iSuppli のコスト分析が待たれるところだ。

一方、Engadget が詳細な Hands-on レビューを載せている。

iFixit の分解以前の記事だが、ビデオ、オーディオの品質はすばらしいけれど、iTunes コンテンツが限られていて「まだホビーの域を出ない」（Apple’s new box still feels a lot like a hobby.）と結論づけている。

AirPlay はオーディオだけ

Engadget チームの多くは AirPlay こそ Apple TV のゲームチェンジャーだという感じがしている。AirPlay を使えば iPad/iPhone/iPod touch の今見ているコンテンツを Apple TV にリアルタイムで移動させることが出来るから・・・。しかし残念なことに、現在 AirPlay が使えるのはオーディオに限られている。１１月までは完全実装されない。

A lot of the team here at Engadget feel like AirPlay could be a game-changing component of the Apple TV. The premise is simple: when using an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, AirPlay allows you to move content you’re viewing or listening to over to the Apple TV, in realtime.
