これはスゴい！

ウワサのアップルタブレットそのものの話ではない。現在の PC に代わる次世代タブレットコンピュータが出現したらどうなるかというコンセプトデザインだ。

Cult of Mac が多くのページを割いて紹介（連載予定）している。

これはアップルタブレットがどう動くだろうかということを示したものだ。どうしてパラダイムシフトなのかこれで分るだろう。自分の指を入力デバイスに使えばとても直感的で分かりやすい。マウスやキーボードはパンチカードみたいに古くさく思える。

Here’s how Apple’s tablet will work and why it’ll be a paradigm shift. Using your fingers as an input device is extremely intuitive, and it’ll make the mouse and keyboard seem as antiquated as punch cards.

UI から考察

Jon Doe はいくつもの素晴らしいアイデアを考えついた。１年間の間、彼はアップルタブレットならどう動くか、どんなジェスチャーをサポートするか、例えばポピュラーな iLife ソフトをマルチタッチ環境に適応させるためにアップルならどうするだろうかと考えつづけた。自分の考えを示すため彼はブログを作り、たくさんの YouTube ビデオを製作した。学ぶべき点が多いので、それについて今後いくつか記事にしてみたい。

Doe has done a remarkable job of figuring it out. Over the course of a year, Doe has imagined how the device might work, what gestures it might support, and how Apple could adapt its popular iLife software to work in a multitouch environment. He’s created a blog to showcase his ideas and a series of YouTube videos. There’s so much to see, I’m publishing several posts over the next few days.

マウスやキーボードは古くなった

Doe いわく、「現在の PC（マック、ウインドウズ、リナックスが動くすべてのボックスこと）が持つ問題とはインターフェイスが古くなったということだ。マウスやキーボードで出来ることの限界に近づきつつあるのだ。」

“The problem is that the current PC interface (PC as in Macs, Windows, and Linux boxes) is outdated,” says Doe. “We’re reaching the limit of what we can do with a mouse and keyboard.”

UI からみたコンセプトデザイン

ボクのアイデアが Cult of Mac に載ったおかげでアクセスがずいぶん増えた。

I’ve gotten quite a few views recently thanks to Cult of Mac’s post about my concept.

ひとつだけハッキリさせておきたいことがある。これはアップルタブレットの内容を予想する試みではないということだ。これはボク自身のコンセプトデザインであり、ウワサとは一切関係ない。架空のアップル製品のように見える唯一の理由は、ボクがアップルが大好きで、マックや iPhone の UI デザインに対するアップルのアプローチが気に入っているからだ。

I did want to make one big clarification: This concept is not an attempt to predict what Apple might do with a Tablet device. This is my idea and not related to any rumors. The only reason I made it look like a fictional Apple product is simply because I love Apple and their approach to UI design in both the Mac and iPhone.

ブログが生まれるまで

マルチタッチコンピュータについて想像し始めるとすぐ UI ついては克服すべき大きな問題があることに気付いた。考えれば考えるほど取り憑かれてしまった。これらのアイデアは、自分が投入した多くの時間を考えると公開すべきだと思うようになった。かくしてこのブログが生まれたというわけ・・・

As I started to dream about a Multi-Touch computer I realized that there were some large UI hurdles to overcome. The more I looked, the more fascinated I became. I felt like I should show off this concept to justify the large amount of time I spent on it, so here I am.

ウワサとは無関係

心しておいてほしいことは、最近の iTablet のウワサとは無関係だということだ。今回のウワサが出るずっと前からボクのアイデアは始まっていた。

Anyway, the point to remember: This is not related to the recent rumors about an iTablet. My idea started long before this round of rumors did.

アップルタブレットなるもののフォトショップ版は枚挙にいとまがないが、ユーザーインターフェイスという観点からここまで検討した例はないのではないか・・・
