そのとおり信じるよ

今朝シャワーを浴びていたとき思ったんだ。Jobs は病気休暇をとりたいというようなことをいったわけだ。彼がそういったのなら自分としてはそのとおり信じるよ。休みをとりたいんだ。休息と平穏をね・・・

In the shower this morning I was thinking, well you know he sort of said he’s going to take a leave of absence. To me, you know, if that’s what he says then I’ll take it at face value. He wants a rest. The rest and peacefulness.

心を遊ばせる

休みのときはどうするかって？時に心を遊ばせるのさ。彼みたいな人間はどんなひとよりいい考えや製品を思いつき、未来がどうなるか、どうしたらよく生きることができるか考えつくんだ。たぶんアップルにとってもすばらしいことをね。

What do you do in you rest? Sometimes your mind floats. A person like him is probably going to work out, you know, better concepts and products and ways the future could be and the way we live our lives better than any individual could. Probably a great, great thing for Apple.

製造パイプライン

アップルのようなテクノカンパニーが作る製品は、長い懐妊期間（pipeline）を経て作られる。ときには１年も、１年半もかかる。いろんな製品が製造パイプライン上にあり、そのことは変わらないのだ。

The products coming out of Apple, out of tech companies, have a long tech pipeline…and they’re started, you know, sometimes they work their way through for a year, year and a half…Those products are in the pipeline, they’re not going to be disturbed.

アップルのカルチャー

もちろん Steve はかけがえがない。しかしアップルにはすばらしい人間が何人もいる。ある意味で彼らはアップルのメンタリティの信奉者であり、Steve の信奉者だ。Steve は個人としてすばらしい。しかし彼の周囲にはたくさんの人間がおり、すばらしい技術を学び取っている。彼がいない間も、アップルのカルチャーは続くのだ。

Obviously Steve’s very important, but Apple has some incredible people too. That are almost, in a way, followers of the Apple mentality, followers of Steve himself…he’s a great individual, but there’s an awful lot that are around him at Apple that obviously, you know, learned some good techniques. The culture of a company can be ongoing even when he’s away.
