我々の読者から一見ホンモノ風のＥメールスレッドが送られてきた。この読者が、App Store から NetShare が削除されて以来、牢破り（jailbreaking）しない限り iPhone ではラップトップのテザリングが不可能になったと苦情をいったところ、Steve Jobs から返事が返ってきたというのだ。
According to a pretty legitimate-looking email thread from one of our readers, Steve Jobs may have responded to complaints that, since the pulling of NetShare from the App Store, iPhone-to-laptop tethering is impossible without jailbreaking one’s phone.

「AT&T は、テザリングを含むデータプランを BlackBerry については提供している。月額 30 ドルの追加料金だ。BlackBerry とテザリングを合計すると月額 60 ドルになる。」
AT&T offers data plans for BlackBerry that include tethering for an additional $30 per month (a total of $60 per month for the BlackBerry+tethering plan).
「iPhone で同じことができないなんてバカげてる。現行のデータプランにテザリングを含めたくないという気持ちは理解できるが、もしテザリングができるなら私は追加料金を払ってもいい。iPhone は先進的なデバイスなのに、そうできないのはどうして？」
It seems ludicrous that the same thing is not offered with the iPhone. I understand the desire to prevent tethering with the current data plan, but I am willing to pay more money to allow tethering! With such an advanced device, why can I not do so?

どうやらメールは本物らしい
アップルの共同設立者から Gizmodo に送られたと称するＥメールがホンモノかどうか、AppleInsider では調べてみた。このメールは確かに Apple I.P. から発信され、本物の Jobs の返信メールと同じ D クラスを経由して送信されたことが確認できた。
AppleInsider has worked to verify the authenticity of the email passed on to gadget site Gizmodo, as it does with others alleged to have come from the Apple co-founder. It can confirm that the transmission originated from an Apple I.P. and via the same D-class as other responses from Jobs known to be authentic.
